The account of the woman caught in adultery, John 7:53 to 8:11, is absent from the oldest surviving copies of John's Gospel, and in later copies it sometimes appears in another place, including once in Luke. Many scholars regard it as a genuine early memory of him that entered the written Gospel late. It is printed here on that judgement. This note is here because you are entitled to know the question exists.
